Reflexology is an ancient art that dates back to 2330 BC in Egypt where it was believed that massaging the feet and hands offered pain relief relief and also strength to further help a person back to health. The ancient Chinese also worked the hands and feet to help maintain good health and prevent disease It has only recently been introduced to the Western world (in the last 100 years) and is proving to be ever more popular. 

Reflexology is a holistic therapy which treats the body as a whole. Its aim is to restore balance, heal and improve state of mind which encourages good health and happiness.

Reflexology is a gentle non-intrusive complementary therapy, based on the theory that reflex areas in the feet correspond to different areas of the body including all the major systems bones and organs.. The application of pressure with the hands to the reflex areas on the feet breaks down deposits, to clear the blockage, helping restore balance within the body. As reflexology is an holistic therapy it works on the belief that the relationship between our emotional and physical aspects are inter connected, one affects the other, stress being a good example. Stress usually starts in the mind with our thoughts and feelings and can then manifest itself in the body in numerous ways.

Reflexology will relax your whole body relieving stress and tension and may be able to help give relief with many conditions including sleep problems, anxiety, circulation, depression, pain, helping to restore energy levels, improve digestion whilst promoting a very deep relaxation state enabling the body to rebalance and heal itself. It may also help with fertility problems in helping the body to relax and help with stress reduction.

For the first treatment you will be given a consultation where a full medical history will be taken along with questions regarding your lifestyle and diet. There are certain contra indications to having reflexology and in certain cases you may need permission from your doctor. You will then be asked to sign a consent form agreeing to the treatment. For your treatment you will be required to take off your socks and shoes, you will recline in a chair and be wrapped in a blanket (if you so choose).  

Having reflexology provides you with a little 'me' time where you can just relax in the lovely, calming atmosphere of the treatment room. Everything said is confidential.  

First treatment with consultation usually lasts approximately 75 minutes
Subesquent Treatments approximately 45 minutes

What is Reiki?

Reiki (Japanese for 'universal life energy)i is a system of natural healing that originated in Japan and developed in 1922 by Mikai Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. It is based on the theory that life force energy (Ki or Chi) flows through us and all living things. When this energy becomes blocked it can cause illness and stress, alternatively when the energy is flowing we are more likely to feel good, at peace with a sense of well being.
Reiki may help in various ways by activating the natural healing process, including stress relief, anxiety, insomnia, it can be effective for most illnesses by helping to create deep relaxation and well being, Reiki is an holistic therapy and treats the body as a whole, emotionally and spiritually. 

Having a Reiki treatment will involve the practitioner placing their hands unobtrusively around certain areas of your body. It is a very light touch and the positions will be held for up to five minutes at a time. You may feel heat or cold from the practitioner's hands or you may see colours, everyone is different. You do not have to believe in anything for Reiki to work for you.  

You will be reclined on a treatment table, fully clothed and wrapped in a blanket (blanket optional). Treatment will take approximately 60 minutes along with a consultation for the first treatment.

You may feel very relaxed and at peace after a Reiki treatment, or you may feel energised, people are individuals so all experiences are different.

You do not have to be ill to receive Reiki, you may wish to take some time out for yourself. Reiki helps the body to release stress and tension, negative feelings, clear the mind and just relax restoring the natural balance of the body, mind and spirit.

 

Foot reading is a way of analysing the personality by looking at the shape of the foot, the length, the shape of the toes etc. It has been around for many years and used in different cultures, such as in Hawaii they say if you have an extra long second toe you belong to the Ali'i (or chief) caste. It has also been used in South America, India, Greece and by Native Americans to name a few (Jane Sheehan, Let's Read Our Feet). 

I start off a reflexology session with a quick look at the feet which gives me an extra insight to my clients emotions and personality. I believe that the mind body and soul are inter-related and one very much affects the other.

About me

My name is Tina, I studied with the Anahata School of Reflexology in 2011 where I qualified as a reflexologist and became a member of the Association of Reflexologists.  I have recently studied the art of foot reading which I include in my reflexology sessions giving me an extra insight to my clients personality.  I have recently obtained my Reiki Master Practitioner Degree awarded to me on completion of training and initiation into the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of natural healing.

Availability

I am available on Thursday and Fridays, occasional weekends and evenings.  I will try to fit in appointments wherever possible and can arrange appointments in the evenings up to 8.30pm during the week.  I also offer a mobile service for an extra cost to cover expenses.
